The next Northern Colorado Honor Flight is heading to Washington D.C. THIS WEEKEND. But before that, festivities start at the Embassy Suites in Loveland on Sunday at 7am. This is where YOU can get involved. You can come for the ceremony and meet the vets. The vets load up the bus around 8:15am and head to DIA. There is a cool setup closer to Frederick which is called Mile of Smiles, where people congregate along I-25 to wave the on the buses. People will also be on overpasses and bridges.
They meet on the west side of I-25 near the fire station that has a helicopter pad. 50+ motorcycles will be escorting the 4 buses full of veterans as well as 4-5 law enforcement cars with lights flashing and possibly a helicopter over head.
Honor Flight is an amazing program where Veterans are flown to Washington D.C. with a nurse/caretaker. They are taking to their Memorial as a gift for their service. It's an emotional experience but a once in a lifetime event.
