Broncos Bring RB Lance Ball Back

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Denver Broncos running back Lance Ball signed his restricted free-agent tender, it was announced on Monday.

Ball (5-9, 215 pounds) is a fifth-year player who has totaled 192 carries for 801 yards (4.2 avg.) with two touchdowns in addition to 27 receptions for 230 yards (8.5 avg.) and two scores in 42 career regular-season games. He also owns 17 rushes for 55 yards (3.2 avg.) and one catch for six yards in two career postseason games played.

Originally signed by St. Louis as a college free agent in 2008, Ball made the Rams’ practice squad out of training camp before moving on to Indianapolis where he made his way up to the Colts’ active roster for the regular-season finale. He spent the 2009 season on practice squads with Tennessee and Denver before becoming a regular on the Broncos’ active roster from 2010-12.

He finished his collegiate career at the University of Maryland ranked fourth in school history in rushing yards (2,487) and tied for fourth in rushing touchdowns (26).

A first-team all-state selection at Teaneck (N.J.) High School, Ball was born on June 19, 1985.
