Greeley Artist's Work Chosen for Dept. of Agriculture Directory

Nanci Avery, Graphic Artist for the City of Greeley's Culture, Parks, and Recreation Department (CPRD), has done it again. Nanci's most recent contest entry for the Colorado Department of Agriculture's "Farm Fresh Directory" was chosen as the winner for this year's cover. As the winner, her artwork is featured on this year's 30th Anniversary edition of the directory. The design includes an artful montage of appetizingly fresh fruits, veggies, and a fine feathered friend all joined together with the creative twist only a gifted graphic artist can deliver.

Nanci has received many awards in the past, including "Best Use of Color in an Advertisement" in 2005 from the Society of Professional Journalism, and The Graphic Design USA Publication Design Awards in both 2006 & 2013. From the start of her graphic art career to date she received between 10 and 15 awards for various contests.

Nanci enjoys anything that involves painting but is also fond of creating prints on fancy paper and other glossy projects. Her degree in Graphic Art initially became a part of her life as something to keep her busy and become an enjoyable career. The competitions are fun for her to enter but she also appreciates the monetary benefits that come along with winning. Nanci says "The hardest part about entering competitions is finding them and finding time to do them."

Most of the artwork and designs that advertise CPRD programs are created by Nanci. This includes publications such as the cover of the quarterly Recreation Connection magazine, the Union Colony Civic Center season brochure, and the Annual Greeley Arts Picnic printed program. She has designed educational nature signs at the City's newest park, Homestead Park, and continues to produce countless posters and fliers among other artistic creations for the Department. Nanci is valued as a talented city employee by the CPRD.

Her next freelance competition will be painting artwork for a state wildlife stamp.
