Flood Aftermath - February 2014

Photos of the flooding aftermath in Loveland and Estes Park about 5 months later.

  •
This house can be seen from 34 and survived the flood. After the flood, it was hit by a giant boulder.
  •
This trailer is stuck in a giant mound of debris and mud.
  •
This used to be a meadow.
  •
This WAS a Jeep. It was smashed and destroyed beyond recognition by flood water and boulders
  •
This house was so badly damaged, they can't get their cars out. This is what it looks like after an earthquake, only this was flooding. Below the truck, the ground has washed away. It's as if you are looking into crawl space or a basement. A foot or two below is where the ground now lays.
  •
This is debris and a part of a house.
  •
This home is ready to cave in and fall to the ground. It is just hovering over where the water washed out the side of the hill. Complete foundations of homes were washed away.
  •
Another look at the smashed Jeep.
  •
This is a home. It is falling down. You can see inside and look at the kitchen and living room. No one can even enter.
  •
  •
This used to be a meadow and the Big Thompson. Now it is flat. About where this is taken there used to be a home.
  •
Any day now this home will fall.
  •
This one is falling more and more everyday, says a local resident.
  •
Part of the house has already fallen.
  •
On the side of the road next to the Thompson. This one could have been destroyed because of an accident, but regardless, numerous cars and trailers were pulled from the Thompson. Some you can even recognize.
  •
You can see how the flood waters were so high, the pulled down the side of the mountain.
  •
This bridge was over the Big Thompson and was moved either by the water or CDOT. There are homes just right of this. You can't access them because they don't have a working bridge. A lot of homes are either ruined or safe, but because there aren't bridges, they can't be reached.
